"Why are we so obsessed with what we lose as we age, and unclear about what we gain?” Viktor Frankl
I admit it, as I age, I can’t multi-task the way I used to without screwing something up, let alone hike for hours without feeling an ache (or two) somewhere in my body the next day. The days of going out to a party at 10 pm are long gone. Discouraging? Yes, but as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate some unexpected perks being “of a certain age.” I’m a lot more forgiving on myself. I say “yes” to what I want to do, and “no” to what doesn’t work for me. And, I don’t care about proving myself or what others think. It’s taken me decades of life to get here and when I think about it, I wouldn’t trade in my wisdom to re-live a few more years in my twenties. What about you? What have you gained as you’ve aged?
Take a few minutes and write down your thoughts. You might be surprised what tumbles onto the page.
