(Watercolor by Rosemary Baron)
from elegant
golden blossom
new pale green babies
evolve
into slick
emerald green
cylinders
joke
of summer harvest
shredded
sliced
chunked
baked
stuffed
fried
casseroled
left on doorsteps
in unlocked cars
overgrown
used
as doorstops
a new ball for catch
a compost staple
besieged with funny jabs
but indispensable
in summer fare—
zucchini!
